This is not about the right or wrong of what President Trump said about the NFL allowing players to take a knee during the National Anthem. The President expressed an opinion, one that he felt most Americans agree with in general, though maybe not with the specifics.
No, this is about how the NFL as a whole reacted to the opinion.
Jim Irsay responded saying “Sports in America has the unique ability to bring people from all walks of life, and from different points of view together to work toward or root for a common goal…”
Admirable, and honorable when it applies to the game on the field. What is not admirable or honorable is how his team responded on the field; some took a knee in protest to an opinion, and in so doing, showed dishonor and disrespect to all vets going back more than 240 years. They disrespected every Law Enforcement Officer in attendance, no, they disrespected every cop in the nation, not just those that are the bad apples.
Jim Irsay and his team brought no one together. Their actions did nothing but bring further division, and more anger by the fans of the NFL, and to the Colts specifically. The boos heard in the stadium attest to the anger of the fans. And the Colts fans are far from being alone in their disgust.
Jim Irsay, live your words, stop allowing your employees to disrespect those that serve this nation with honor. Keep it off the field.
