I have been watching with interest the commotion over Indiana’s new Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
It is apparent high percentages of those protesting the law have not read it, and ignore the explanations given by those that have. I am not surprised, we are a nation that relies on sound bites with few ever questioning the veracity of the talking heads telling us what they think, when they too have not read the law.
My Face Book Page is loaded with misinformation about the law, and far too many people that should know better, are sharing and re-posting the Talking Head’s lies. I have even read posts where people are saying restaurants here in Columbus are turning away gay “looking” people to further their lies. One the law is not yet in effect. Two the liars never name the restaurant.
Is the hate necessary to make others look hateful? Seems so.
The law which takes effect on 1 July of this year, does not apply to individuals. What? That’s right it does not apply to individuals. And one more shock for those that have not bothered to read the law. It doesn’t apply to companies either. Wait that’s not what he talking heads are saying. Those talking heads are liars, stirring the pot in order sell airtime and print copy.
The law is a version of the Federal Law signed by President Clinton in 1993 to protect the people from the Federal government from demanding/forcing anyone into doing something that they are morally against due to their religious beliefs. Freedom OF Religion from Federal government interference. Indiana’s law applies to the State and Local governments. Simple right? Guess not, judging from the hate being spewed in the media.
Where was the world is ending protests when Clinton signed the law for the Feds 22 years ago? And where is the proof tolerance ended when he signed it? There is no proof, because it didn’t happen. And it won’t happen in Indiana when this law goes in effect in July.
So here is the link to the law for those interest in what it does in the real world.

When did protection form the government become a hate crime by the people against other people?
